   HANGAR TALK

Volume 11, Issue 1                                                                                                                   January, 2000

NEXT CLUB MEETING: Wednesday,

January 26, 2000 at HeliPort Hobbies, 7:30 p.m.

From the President

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2000! Now that we have started off the

new year in a great way with the annual SNOW BIRD FUN FLY,

let's make the next 12 months just as good if not better.

The Snow Bird Fun Fly went really well, great weather and no

radio failures from the Y2K bug. Don't forget the start of

our monthly meetings again on Wed. the 26th at Helliport

Hobbies (6:30 for board members and the regular meeting at

7:30).

The Snow Bird went great from what I was told because I

didn't get to the field till around noon, but just in time

to fly in the fun fly event. This years winner goes to Lee

Overholt and he gets to keep the beautiful and stunning

looking Snow Bird trophy for the whole year and the honor of

passing it on to next years winner. Lee won the event with

the shortest time but also lost his landing gear in doing

so. Just a minor repair job!

The first flight of the year for a club member goes to

David Wilbur. I don't know how early in the morning it was

but I know I was still sleeping. Great job gentlemen!

The meetings are starting up again and lets try to have

as many members attend as possible. The greater the showing,

the more ideas are brought out to help the club. If you have

any ideas or want to be heard on any issue please attend and

share them with everyone else.

DON'T  FORGET, DUES ARE DUE NOW, don't wait to long and

end up paying a late fee.

Have fun, fly safe and see you at the meeting.

Scott

Lee Oveholt is trying to update his data on the frequencies the club members use.  Please fill this out and send it to Lee.  He has E-Mail for those of you on the Internet.  His address is: kaover@diac.com.

FREQUENCY SHEET

I would like to up date our frequency report right after the first of the year. If you have added any new receivers or deleted any receivers since you last filled out a frequency sheet please give me this information. For those receivers deleted, list the channel number, how many and write deleted in column four. Those members who have not yet filled out a frequency sheet this might be a good time to do so.

Lee

1. List all receivers even if you only use them once or twice a year.

2. Receivers that have frequency synthesizer list as M for multiple frequencies.

3. List all the days that you might use this receiver. (M,T,W,TH,F,S,SU)

4. Return completed sheet to Miniature Aero Sportsters, P O Box 29634, Thornton CO, 80229-0634, or give to Lee Overholt at club meeting or at the field.

The annual SnowBird happened on 1/1/00 without any Y2K glitches.  The weather was great and there were plenty of people there.  We had 12 people sign up for the trophy competition.  This year you had to draw your maneuver out of a bowl, take off, do the 2 items listed on your slip of paper and the land.  Stopwatch started at liftoff, and stopped when the airplane came to a full and complete stop.  The quickest time wins.  For the most of the event, John Hogan held the lead with 26 seconds for 2 axial rolls.  All good things must end, Lee Overholt performed 2 loops and landed in 21 seconds.  As an added bonus Lee graciously sacrificed his landing gear as well (he used the fuselage as a brake to stop his airplane).  (I can't talk really, my landing gear also ended up in the trashcan.)  When all was said and done here is how the standings went.  Lee Overholt 1st place, John Hogan 2nd place, Curt Samuelson 3rd place.  Congratulations to all the winners.  Thanks to all that participated.   Special thanks to Gordie Seth and his wife for once again manning the concessions.

Thank you

Got this note from Tom Glaess today.  Please read and heed.

Dan,

Could you put something in the newsletter (and let people know too) that I am not the treasurer this year. Ron is the Treasurer. People are sending me checks and I don't have any of the equipment necessary for dealing with them. We also require people to show us their AMA card, so a check in the mail doesn't do enough anyway.

Roster

Thank you for everyone who called, E-Mailed or otherwise contacted me within the last month.  You can see the list is a whole lot shorter than it was last month.

We're down to 5 people with whom we need to speak in order to bring our records up to date.  If your name is on this list, please contact me at 303 690 9178, or E-Mail me at rcflyertoo@home.com.  If you don't want your phone number, address, or anything else published, that's fine, but we have to get our club records up to date.  If all this information is correct, please contact me to tell me so.  If any of the items in this list is empty, please call me with the information so I can fill in the blanks.  In particular, in addition to your name, we have to have a current address and your AMA number on file.  This is to satisfy AMA charter requirements for our club.  If you have E-Mail, we'll get the newsletter to you electronically if you like.

I'm gonna keep nagging every month until this table is complete, so you might as well call me today so I can take your name off this list.

Does anybody in the club know Joseph Woods?  I don't have a good address on him.  If he is still a member of the club, we need to get some data on him.  Right now, he's not getting the newsletter because I don’t have a place to send it.

Please, if you know any of these people, help me get in touch with them so I can straighten this out.

Thank you.
