We believe that natural products are the best for promoting optimal health and wellness and that is why we are committed to using only organic and/or non-GE ingredients whenever possible.   Organic and non-GE ingredients are produced using methods that preserve their natural integrity. Here are a few of the reasons why we believe so strongly in organic and non-GE ingredients: Non-GE – “GE” stands for genetic engineering and is also referred to as GMO (genetically modified organism). Genetic engineering of food products uses gene splicing to overcome natural boundaries that would otherwise prohibit the creation of a product. Genes from different species can be combined to create a hardier product resistant to certain exogenous factors. As an example, you might be able to add fish genes to corn to make it resistant to pesticides. Although there may be “instant gratification” from such benefits as better taste, longer shelf life, and greater yield, serious concerns exist about the long-term ramifications of using these types of products and ingredients. Until more research backing the safety of GE products is available, we’ll continue to make every effort to use only non-GE ingredients and products. Organic – Organic is an “earth friendly” system of producing and processing agricultural products. Weeds, pests and other natural factors are controlled with environmentally sound methods that sustain the health of our planet and therefore our own health. Chemicals such as pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers, and other environmentally harmful substances, are forbidden. Instead, organic farmers utilize a combination of old and new agricultural practices to achieve similar results.
