Piracetam (2-oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetamide) is a derivative of the amino acid GABA (Gamma Amino Butyric Acid). Interestingly it is chemically related to the amino acid Pyroglutamic Acid (Pyrrolidine Carboxylic acid), which occurs in cerebrospinal fluid.
